Looking around the web and even at my own "likes" on my Facebook statuses that relate to sweet treats, I can't help but notice the explosion of food groups and sites. I'm currently brainstorming a way to get in on this madness, and while I'd LOVE to just open a bakery and bake cookies and cakes and cupcakes and breads, and...well, you get the idea, all day everyday, maybe something along the lines of a Cookie/Sweets recipe of the week is a little more feasible??
To be honest with you I don't "follow" anyone, I have a twitter account but don't like it, I'm not into hashtags, and I kind of surprised even myself when I hit the "submit" button to create this account.
Within the past six months both of my grandmothers have past away. In April, when we lost Granny, I found myself recreating my favorite things that she cooked and baked for us growing up. And in June when Mom passed away, I again found myself elbow deep in flour and a cookbook she had put together of her favorite recipes.
While I like to cook and take much pride in the fact that I can provide decent meals for my husband and any company we may have join us at our dinner table, my passion lies in the baking. There's just something about the mess that a big scoop of flour being dumped into the stand mixer makes that just makes my heart smile.
Whether it's a big batch of old family recipe chocolate chip cookies (Mom's recipe to be exact), or a new recipe for a ridiculously odd cupcake, I try to make sure there's at least one kind of homemade sweet treat in my house at all times (I get that last part from my Granny. There was always, always something under the cake plate, and if not, that something could be found in the oven)
That means that at least once a week, I find myself in the kitchen baking up something special, and because I already do that, I think I'm going to take the opportunity to share those recipes and experiences with you!
Consider this blog baby splash number one of working my way up to the big kid end of the pool and the diving board.
